“I am an Honest, Kind, Smart, Persistent, sometimes Funny, Lifelong learner with passion for helping people thrive, respect for American democracy, and endless energy for the work of being your state representative. I am a content wife, proud Mom of wonderful adult daughters, delighted Gramma, gardener, cyclist, breast cancer survivor, and non-judgmental dietitian/diabetes educator. Even in these challenging times, I am an optimist – Hope for NH isn’t just a slogan.”

Hope and George Cycling in The Prouty

Hope has lived in Sullivan County all her adult life. She co-led Stand-Up for Croydon Students, a nonpartisan initiative that reversed the 53% cut to the Croydon School District budget in 2022. Connecting with neighbors and friends throughout Croydon led to a 377-2 vote to fully restore funding. The campaign made national news for its’ unusually successful grassroots democracy – Hope believes that democracy works best when we talk & listen to each other to find common ground. As your Representative, she works hard to bring positive, honest & effective energy to Concord.

Hope was a successful small business owner of The Nutrition Counseling Center for 36 years where she used her skills as a dietitian and diabetes educator to help people take good care of themselves. She started her career running the food service at New London Hospital. Hope has seen firsthand how our current healthcare system leaves many people behind. Hope is also a breast cancer survivor who is active in advocacy for cancer care and research, cycling in The Prouty annually to raise funds for cancer research at Dartmouth Cancer Center. Each year, The Prouty raises over $10million.

Hope lives in Croydon with her husband, retired building contractor George Chait, and enjoys frequent visits from her daughters, sons-in-law, and granddaughter Amal! Hope & George raised their daughters, Sasha and Nadia, in Croydon and they attended public school in Sunapee. Hope and George experienced childcare challenges that are so common and challenging for parents. When the child care center her children attended was closing, Hope organized with other parents to turn the childcare into a cooperative, and served as the Founding Board President. Cinnamon Street Child Care served families from 1994 - 2023. It closed due to inability to staff adequately. Hope strongly supports legislation to make childcare more affordable and available. It is critical to families and to the NH economy.

Hope has served as co-chair of the NH Women’s Foundation Grantmaking Committee for many years.. This statewide non-profit organization invests in opportunity and equality for women and girls in the Granite State through research, advocacy, education, grantmaking and philanthropy. NH has thousands of nonprofits that help Granite Staters thrive - they are essential especially since we lack systemic, adequate government services to assure people’s basic needs are met reliably.

Hope is on the boards of Southwestern Community Services and Safer Schools. She actively participates with both organizations, working to improve student and community mental health, increase access to housing, and empower low income people and families to become self-sufficient. Hope values serving on behalf of the greater good!

Hope is known for showing up throughout the district at school board, selectboard and city council meetings as well as many events. She connects and learns everywhere to bring local knowledge and perspective to her state rep work. She votes for the best interest of our communities. Hope believes strongly in government transparency and works hard to keep you informed.
